I don’t understand what voltron is or why it’s suddenly so popular and googling just shows me a 1998 anime about gundam and I’m very confused please help

There’s currently a reboot of the old 1980′s show Voltron(which outside of having mecha is nothing like Gundam) on netflix and it is awesome.

Should be mentioned the current Voltron is called Voltron: Legendary Defender.  The original 1980s show was Voltron Defender of the Universe, and then there were two attempts at continuing the franchise with Voltron in the Third Dimension, and Voltron Force.

But the one everyone is going giggly mad over is Voltron Legendary Defender.
